Smoother support for overall health throughout the care pathway also from oral health
At Terveystalo, dental and oral health is taken into account in accordance with national guidelines as part of care pathways for diabetes, asthma, hypertension, and reflux disease.
Dental and oral health is part of the customer’s care pathway both in the Terveystalo app and in the online service. The customer receives information about the connection between their illness and oral health, as well as recommendations for a dental check-up when there is a medical justification. All recommendations are based on the customer’s care relationship and medical need.
When booking an appointment, the customer is reminded to confirm whether oral health services are included in their occupational health agreement. The use of the service is voluntary, and all data is processed confidentially. As a rule, the service is self-paid unless the employer’s occupational health agreement also covers dental and oral health services.
Stronger support for guideline complient care
From June 3 onwards, we will also support the implementation of the care pathway by phone. Our goal is to ensure that care progresses smoothly and that guideline-based treatment is realized in practice. The care pathway guides the customer in a timely manner to dental services as part of overall care, without the customer needing to identify all factors relevant to their treatment.
For example, oral infections can weaken the treatment balance of many chronic diseases, while good oral health supports disease management and improves treatment outcomes. By integrating dental and oral health into care pathways, the customer’s overall situation remains better under control.
From the employer’s perspective, this change supports the quality and effectiveness of care: when oral health is systematically considered as part of chronic disease management, treatment balance improves and risks can be addressed early. This helps prevent complications and supports work ability.
