Instructions for a doctor’s appointment

Welcome to your doctor’s appointment at Terveystalo. You can check the notes made during your appointment afterwards in the Terveystalo app or by logging into our online service. Information about your visits to Terveystalo is also available in MyKanta.

What to bring to your appointment

  • A photo ID. Forms of identification at Terveystalo include a passport, driver’s license, identity card, and a Kela card with a photo.
  • Any payment commitments or referrals from other institutions, either in paper form or electronically.
  • An insurance card or another method used by your insurance company to verify that you have an insurance.
  • If you wish, you may bring a companion or family member.

How to prepare for your visit

Be prepared to tell the doctor:

  • What symptoms you have, when they started, and whether they’ve been examined before.
  • If you have any allergies or other illnesses.
  • What medications you use – whether prescribed, over-the-counter, or herbal remedies.
  • Tests you’ve had and their results: usually found in Kanta if you’ve given consent to share the data.
  • If you are or suspect you might be pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.
  • Questions or concerns you’d like to discuss with the doctor.

During the appointment

  • The doctor will talk with you about your symptoms and review your previous records and test results from Kanta.
  • Basic examinations may be done, such as measuring blood pressure and listening to your heart and lungs.
  • The doctor will plan further care with you and may refer you for lab tests, prescribe medication, or give home care instructions.
  • If you wish to record your appointment, please agree on it with the healthcare professional treating you. 

After the appointment 

Test results:

  • The doctor will agree with you during the appointment how you’ll receive the statement on your test results and whether a separate call is needed to go through them.
  • Once your test results are ready, you’ll be notified by text message. If you are using the Terveystalo app or you have online banking credentials, you can also view your results in the Terveystalo app or by logging into our online service.
  • In addition to the Terveystalo app and online service, test results from Terveystalo are sent to Kanta. 

Doctor’s notes: 

  • You can view the notes made during your appointment (the patient record) in the Terveystalo app, online service, and in MyKanta.
