When you visit the laboratory
Terveystalo provides laboratory services across Finland, available at around 150 of our locations. After your test, you can easily view your laboratory results in the Terveystalo app.
Booking an appointment and preparation instructions
Terveystalo laboratories mainly operate by appointment. In some locations, laboratories also serve customers with a queue number without an appointment. You can check the specific procedures of each laboratory on our location pages. Appointments can be booked online through our website or the Terveystalo app. Booking through the app is quick and easy — see here how to download the app to your phone.
You can also book an appointment at our customer service desk during a doctor’s visit, or by calling our customer service. It is important to follow the preparation instructions before arriving, as some tests require fasting — see here how to prepare.
With or without a referral?
When visiting the laboratory, you usually need a referral for your test. Some basic tests can be performed without a doctor’s referral.
Please note that tests performed without a referral are not eligible for Kela reimbursement. The results of referral-free laboratory tests have been transferred to Kanta as of December 19, 2024.
If you are an occupational healthcare client, you will always need a referral.
Check-in
It is recommended to arrive at the laboratory about 15 minutes before your appointment to allow your circulation to settle. You can check in via the Terveystalo app, by using the check-in text message, at the customer service desk, or at the self-service check-in kiosk. Customers with an appointment will be called to the laboratory by name from the waiting area.
Your identity will be verified before the sample is taken with a valid photo ID. Accepted identification documents at Terveystalo include a passport, driver’s license, ID card, and Kela card with a photo.
Receiving your test results
Referral from a Terveystalo professional:
If your test was ordered by a Terveystalo doctor or nurse, you will receive your laboratory results either directly from them or automatically in the Terveystalo app or online service. Please make sure you have been informed about how you will receive your results.
Laboratory results are always automatically available in the Terveystalo app and online service. To view your results, you need to download the Terveystalo app to your phone and log in. Alternatively, you can log in to our online service via our website. You will need online banking credentials or a mobile certificate to log in.
Referral from an external provider:
If your test was ordered by a doctor or nurse outside Terveystalo, your laboratory results will also appear in the Terveystalo app and online service. To view your results, download the Terveystalo app to your phone. If needed, you can also collect your results from our customer service desk by presenting a valid photo ID.
Test without a referral:
You can view your test results by logging into the Terveystalo app or online service. If needed, you can also collect your results from our customer service desk by presenting a valid photo ID.
