The renewed lifestyle disease risk report from health examinations provides more information and reinforces prevention

Starting in February 2026, the lifestyle disease risk report will include an estimate of metabolic age and compare each individual's results with data collected from working-age people at Terveystalo.

Since 2023, Terveystalo customers have had access to a lifestyle disease risk report developed in collaboration with our partner Nightingale Health, which, thanks to the renewal, now offers an even better overview of health at both the individual and organizational levels. The report now serves customers of all ages better than before, as we show a comparison of the results in relation to the data collected from working-age people throughout Terveystalo.

We are now better able to identify employees who are at significant risk of lifestyle-related diseases and, on the other hand, those who are doing well. From our own extensive data, we know that there is a clear link between lifestyle disease risks and sick leave, regardless of age and biological sex. Other research evidence also shows that poor lifestyle habits are linked to poorer work performance and a lower quality of life.

In the renewal, we condensed metabolic health into a single number, metabolic age. This makes it easy to monitor health at both the individual and group levels. We also offer concrete tools and support for implementing lifestyle changes in connection with the results.

We empower our customers to take greater responsibility for their own well-being, health, and work ability

The updated report includes the following improvements to the customer experience, which have made the report clearer, more accessible, and more personalized. Thanks to these reforms, it is easier for customers to understand their own risks and monitor their progress, and they also receive concrete tools and support for implementing change.

The improvements in a nutshell:

  • Clarified structure: The first page of the report now includes a concise summary of the results and easy-to-understand interpretation guidelines, which makes it quicker to grasp the content of the report.
  • Better accessibility: The report is printed directly in three languages – Finnish, Swedish, and English. This makes it easy for all customers to understand the information and improves the usability of the report.
  • More detailed information on the causes of risks and the impact of lifestyle choices: The updated report compiles essential information on the impact of lifestyle choices on risks and includes concrete tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
  • Comparison with recent data on age group risk: We know that age has a significant impact on many health risks. In the updated report, we emphasize relative risk, i.e., risk compared to the average risk for people of the same age. The comparison group is based on recent data collected by Terveystalo on working-age people, which enables a more relevant risk assessment. The results are therefore compared directly with working people of the same age and biological sex. In the past, the risk for young people may have appeared low, even though, for example, a younger employee compared to their own age group may have actually been a high-risk person. On the other hand, older people may have an increased risk simply because of their age, but by comparing the level of risk to the average risk for their age group, we can see how lifestyle affects health. The report therefore provides an unbiased picture of the impact of lifestyle on health.
  • Personalized forecast of risk profile development: The report includes a forecast of your future risk profile, assuming that your current lifestyle continues. This forecast helps you understand how your current choices affect your health and motivates you to make changes in time. You can monitor the development of risks by setting realistic goals together with a professional. The new report includes a timeline that makes it easy to see how your measurements change over time. This supports permanent lifestyle changes and the long-term promotion of health and well-being.
  • New value – Metabolic age: Metabolic age summarizes a large amount of information into a single number. It tells you how old you would be if your age were assessed solely on the basis of disease risks. In other words, it tells you how your body is aging in relation to your calendar age. A metabolic age higher than your calendar age indicates that there is room for improvement in your lifestyle.
  • New value - Fatty liver disease: We added the risk of fatty liver disease, which has become increasingly common, to the report. We replaced the risk of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis with the more easily understandable risk of fatty liver disease.

The report's clear presentation and more extensive comparisons help identify risks at an early stage, when it is easier to influence them. Customers can monitor their progress and set realistic goals together with occupational health experts. The reform brings added value, particularly in that healthcare professionals and customers can work together to plan measures tailored to the customer's needs, taking step by step towards a healthier everyday life.
