First Aid Courses
In the workplace survey, the occupational health service assesses the need for first aid preparedness in the company and determines the level of first aid preparedness. The first aid needs of a workplace vary according to the working environment, the nature of the work and the risks of exposure. Read below to find out more about what your company should consider for first aid preparedness.

Firstaid preparedness is part of workplace safety
It is the employer's responsibility to ensure the implementation of first aid preparedness. The need for first aid preparedness is assessed as part of the workplace assessment.
Occupational health services are responsible for determining the need for first aid preparedness and arranging psychological follow-up care in the event of accidents.
First aid preparedness is an important aspect of workplace safety and accident prevention. There should be a sufficient number of employees with first aid skills, adequate first aid supplies, and procedures for handling accident situations. There should also be guidelines to prevent work-related psychosocial stress in fields where the threat of violence has been identified.
Kela (The Social Insurance Institution of Finland) reimburses employers for necessary and reasonable costs incurred in maintaining first aid preparedness. Occupational health services assess the needs related to first aid preparedness and training. These needs are recorded in the occupational health service action plan. To be eligible for reimbursement, the first aid trainer must be a healthcare professional with first aid instructor training. Costs are automatically included in the occupational health Kela application if occupational health services and first aid training are provided by Terveystalo, unless otherwise agreed with the client. Planning first aid preparedness together with occupational health services
Occupational health services assess the need for first aid preparedness during the workplace assessment and determine the appropriate level of first aid preparedness.
Based on the assessment, occupational health services plan together with the employer how to implement first aid preparedness. The plan is recorded in the occupational safety action program and the occupational health service action plan. The plan defines the number of personnel to be trained, the necessary courses and their maintenance, the required first aid equipment, and the person responsible for maintaining the register of trained first aiders and the person responsible for first aid equipment within the client organization.
The employer is obligated to provide sufficient information about the workplace, work environment, the work performed there, and any other relevant information for assessing first aid preparedness.
Additionally, the employer is responsible for creating procedures for accident situations and documenting the first aid preparedness plan and equipment in the floor plans of the work facilities.
