What does the responsibility for organizing occupational health care mean for employers?
Every employer has a legal obligation to organize occupational health care for their employees. This responsibility means that employees must be offered preventive occupational health care with the aim of preventing work-related illnesses and accidents and supporting the health and working capacity of employees throughout their careers.
What does statutory occupational health care include?
- Workplace assessment evaluating working conditions, exposures, and health risks
- Drawing up an action plan and planning and implementing measures to maintain work ability in cooperation with the employer
- Health examinations in accordance with occupational exposure requirements
- Advice and guidance on health and work ability
- Prevention of accidents and work-related illnesses
What is not covered in the statutory occupational health care?
- Statutory occupational health care does not include medical treatment.
- If an employee falls ill and needs treatment from a healthcare professional, they must seek treatment from the public healthcare system or, at their own expense, from a private healthcare provider.
