COVID-19 vaccinations for our occupational healthcare customers

Terveystalo is preparing to provide vaccinations regionally. We will immediately contact our occupational health customers as soon as the vaccination arrangements in their municipality have been agreed on. In case an organization is present in more than one municipality, employees can be vaccinated according to the local instructions.

The employer can include COVID-19 vaccinations in your organization’s occupational healthcare agreement by contacting own occupational healthcare team.

The municipalities in which Terveystalo provides COVID-19 vaccinations

Information on COVID-19 vaccinations

THL provides instructions for all operators on the vaccination arrangements, the distribution of vaccines, and the administration of vaccinations. The most current information on the vaccine situation in Finland and the vaccines used can be found on THL’s website.

Terveystalo reports daily on the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign – check the open data on our reporting page.

Which vaccines does Terveystalo use?

THL gives instructions on the order of administration and distribution of the vaccines. Terveystalo receives the vaccines from the municipality. This means that it receives COVID-19 vaccines in accordance with THL’s national recommendations.

Currently, the BioNTech-Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca vaccines are in use in Finland.

As an EU Member State, Finland is included in the advance purchase commitment to possibly also buy vaccines at least from the following operators:

  • Sanofi-GSK
  • Johnson & Johnson
  • Curevac

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is in charge of the procurement of vaccines for Finland. The Government makes the final decision on the vaccines to be procured.

Please note! According to THL’s decision, March 29, the AstraZeneca vaccine is available only to citizens over 65 years of age.

Is the vaccination subject to a charge?
COVID-19 vaccinations are free of charge to everyone living in Finland.
Do occupational health providers administer vaccinations?
Possibly.
According to the current strategy, the municipalities are responsible for the organization of vaccinations in their respective areas, and they may also provide vaccinations in cooperation with local operators, such as occupational health units and the private sector. At Terveystalo, COVID-19 vaccinations are available to those occupational health customers whose employers have given them instructions on this. The municipalities in which Terveystalo participates in the vaccination campaign are listed here.
Can I get the vaccination quicker in the private sector than the public sector if I’m ready to pay for it?

No, it is not possible. Finland’s COVID-19 vaccination strategy, issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, is based on medical grounds, the opinions of Finnish experts, and evidence.

The municipalities are responsible for the organization of vaccinations in their respective areas, and Terveystalo cooperates with the municipalities. Once the vaccination arrangements in a municipality have been agreed on, we will immediately contact our occupational health customers to inform them.

Can pregnant women and children be vaccinated?

In Finland, COVID-19 vaccinations are offered to everyone aged 16 years or older. Children are not yet being vaccinated as there is not enough data available on children’s vaccinations.

Currently, there is very little experience or systematic research data on vaccinating pregnant women. Vaccinating a pregnant woman may be considered if the mother’s underlying illness exposes her to an increased risk of severe coronavirus infection. Vaccination may also be considered if a pregnant woman has an increased risk of being exposed to the coronavirus at work.

The vaccination instructions concerning pregnant women will be updated as soon as more research data and experience are obtained.

Do I get a certificate of vaccination?

Everyone who has received a COVID-19 vaccination at Terveystalo will receive a Terveystalo vaccination certificate free of charge in the Oma Terveys application, if the vaccination has been registered in Terveystalo's patient information system. To ensure effective vaccination, we prefer to deliver the vaccination certificate electronically to the Oma Terveys application.

The certificate will be available in the “Messages” service in the Remote Service section of the application approximately one hour after receiving the vaccination. In addition, you will be informed by e-mail about the arrival of the message. The e-mail will be sent to the address provided by you in your information. If necessary, you can print the certificate yourself from the application.

The vaccination certificate is a Terveystalo document showing the name and personal identity code of the vaccinated person, the dates of vaccination (specifying the 1st and 2nd dose) and the vaccine batch number. The certificate is proof of vaccination. The certificate is available about an hour after the first vaccination. Due to technical reasons, the certificate for people vaccinated before March 4, 2021 will be displayed in the Oma Terveys application with a maximum delay of one month.

In addition to the certificate, information about the vaccination is also recorded in the Kanta.fi database, i.e. the information is also displayed in the My Kanta service. Currently, the information can be found in the appointment record but after a version update in April, it will be moved to the vaccination information section where it naturally belongs.
